Commencement of Operations Notice

May 7, 2015 at 6:28 pm

The Cortes Forestry General Partnership is pleased to announce that operations are now scheduled to begin in the Larson’s Meadow area on Friday May 8. Start-up will begin with road work comprised of installing culverts, rehabilitation of existing road, and construction of a 250 meter section of new logging road.
Once the roads are opened and safe access is provided to each of the blocks, falling will get underway and is expected to take three to four weeks. Hoe-chuck forwarding will begin shortly after the falling gets underway. The CFGP requests that the public refrain from entering the operating area while harvesting activities are under way. Safety is a top priority, so please help by waiting until operations are completed before visiting the operating areas.
Residual waste wood will be made available as firewood at roadside, free for island residents who sign a liability waiver and purchase a $10 permit. Permits will be available through the CFGP shortly. Firewood contractors looking to looking to buy larger volumes can purchase pulp grade logs for delivery to their processing site.
